Hello everyone!  Here I am reporting from ‘The Chatterbox’ within Silver Birch Dell again!

This is my second blog and I’m so excited to tell you about what has been happening since we launched our first story, ‘DT Finds The Door’ last month.

Our launch in London was so much fun with delicious Fairy Cup Cakes!  We introduced everyone to our Fairy Dell along with all the friends!  We did it all again in Plymouth a couple of days afterwards and it was so good to hear what people were saying about our story!

DT The Railway Cat was feeling very pleased with himself as he was most definitely centre of attention! Shoppy Poppy eventually decided on her outfits and flounced around making sure everyone saw her as usual!

We have had lots of reviews and so far everyone is really enjoying hearing all about how DT found our Fairy Door!  In fact it does seem as though everyone is already waiting for the second and third books for the next adventures. Not long to wait!

Our author, Alison May has been very busy writing and giving interviews on the radio and online.  You can find the links here if you would like to see and listen….

I have included a Team Photo, so you can see who works with us!

As part of our ‘Meet the Team’ feature, this month we talked to Mike, our Designer.

I met with him the other day and asked him a couple of questions….

“Can you tell me what you do in the Team?”

I have a very busy job!  I am a Designer and create all sorts of things for the team! When we decided to share Silver Birch Dell with everyone, we needed to show it in bright colour and make sure that the colours we used were the same every time.  This is called building a ‘Brand’ so whenever people think of Silver Birch Dell, they can recognise the colour green we use, or the style of writing for example.  I also created our busy website which has been a lot of fun and designed the covers for our books.  My other main job is to oversee the printing of the books which is very interesting.  In fact, you can look at this video and you will see the first story coming off the Printing Press.

“Who is your favourite character?”

I would say that my favourite character is DT!  He is instantly likeable and has an honest heart!  He always tries to do the right thing!

“Why is Green such a significant colour in your design for the brand?”

When we began discussing colours, it soon became apparent that green was such a good colour to show a freshness that reflected nature, gardens, grass and woodland.  It is such a strong colour and we chose a shade that was eye-catching, bright and vibrant.

“What is your favourite illustration so far?”

Well that is a very difficult question as there are so many to choose from!  But if I have to choose one then I am going to pick the illustration of your Art Club Bella, which appears in the next book!  I’ve been lucky enough to see it already!  It is full of colour and really shows just what you all get up to on Saturday mornings in the Dell!

Look out for next month to see who we meet!

So on 11th July we publish my book, Bella Honeysuckle and the Sports Day and Giuseppe Spaghetti and the Flowers where you get to see the Silver Birch Deli! The books are full of fun and we also introduce you to some more of our friends! Enjoy!

I will see you soon
