Hello and a very warm welcome to our November Blog!  It’s been ANOTHER busy month here in Silver Birch Dell.  We visited Alison May’s old Primary School and spent time with the children colouring and writing, which was heaps of fun.  Plus, we’re delighted to launch our very special Christmas book ‘River Dawn & The Christmas Stockings!  Packed full of amazing festive illustrations, this is the very latest, charming adventure from Behind The Fairy Door books.

We still made time for our Big Interview though….this month we spoke to Tony Scott…

What do you do in the Team?

My name is Tony and I develop the products that complement  the wonderful stories that Alison has written and Stephanie has illustrated. We have plenty of exciting ideas for 2018 …. Watch this space!

Who is your favourite character?

George Clumpy is a bit of a legend (which is why I’ve added his picture to this!). Respect for his organizational skills – not easy managing all the characters in the Dell  He also likes playing football as I do – though my best days of skill are somewhat behind me! What do you think his best position is? I would say central defender!

Where did you begin in creating DT the toy and the merchandise, along with the branding?

DT was absolute natural to be our first creation. He is so full of spirit and cheekiness!  We spent almost 6 months developing the product, so it would look just like the DT that you all love in the books! The branding obviously has to link to all the books and artwork, so the vital job was to make sure the colour themes are consistent and on all the products.

Where is your favourite place in the Dell

I am a retailer by profession, so it has to be Orchard Lane where the characters can indulge in some retail therapy and meet the other Dell inhabitants on their daily chores!  Shops are a great place to meet friends!
